The most noticeable difference for me has been the support – not only do we get a lot more
support but the style is entirely different. My area manager being an excellent chef means he
can relate directly to what we do every day and has given us good leadership, motivation and advice.
Flexibility is also important – our business needs change daily and the ability to buy locally and
have input into supplier selection are important to us. Whilst the ongoing development we get through our area manager is vital, the additional off job training we have received has been excellent. Although we are the same team as we were when Wilson Vale took over, we are a happier and more motivated bunch and personally, there is a tremendous difference in my self-confidence and attitude towards work.

There was a degree of mutual uncertainty at the start of my employment with Wilson Vale –
whilst it was refreshing to hear their approach to the business, I had yet to be convinced it
would work in our environment and that they would apply the necessary resource to ensure
success. Equally, I knew I would have to work hard to blend with their culture and establish
myself in the business. Not only have both parties delivered 110%, but the sustained physical support, open style of management, loyalty to suppliers and freedom to express ourselves had made our life as a team much more enjoyable.
The results speak volumes - sickness is virtually nil, and sales are up by 15% and we have
significantly improved client and customer relations – all of this with no major changes to the
original team.
What is most refreshing? all of this is driven by a genuine passion for good.
