A NATURAL CHOICE FOR WILSON VALE

Monday 2nd July 2012

Wilson Vale has re-launched its CSR programme, ‘A Natural Choice’, giving an updated over-review of the company’s CSR commitments over the past two years since it was first launched. The document outlines Wilson Vale’s progress on sustainability and illustrates the many CSR initiatives undertaken by the independent caterer. For example, the company’s fleet emissions have reduced by 27 per cent since 2010 and 70 per cent of all food packaging is now biodegradable.

Andrew Wilson, co-founder and managing director of Wilson Vale said:”We felt it was appropriate to reflect on our progress since 2010 and consider how we can continue to reduce our carbon footprint further. There is no doubt that the core element of a strong CSR policy should beat at the heart of every company.”

Wilson Vale continues to plant trees in the New National Forest for every contract gained and the company has also launched a wellbeing policy for its staff over the past two years.
Charitable donations have increased by 48 per cent since 2010 and the Wilson Vale has now made CSR training mandatory within the training calendar. 50 per cent of coffee served within Wilson Vale restaurants is triple certified, ethically sourced Origins coffee.

“These are all small steps but of course, there is always so much more that can be done,” said Andrew Wilson. “Our immediate focus will be on developing an apprenticeship scheme and continue working with Business in the Community to provide fulfilling roles for the disadvantaged.”
