Students at the Foxwood Special Education School in Nottingham are learning more than just the traditional subjects, thanks to a new green finger initiative led by their caterer.
Their education is blooming as their gardening skills are put to the test in the new kitchen garden which is designed and sponsored by Wilson Vale Catering, enabling the children to plant, grow and maintain their own flowers and vegetables. This worthwhile enterprise also enables the whole school to benefit from the fruits of their labour, as the vegetables are picked, prepared and eaten at lunchtime or sold on to parents.
Marie Mirfin, School Business Manager said: “We have worked with Wilson Vale since 2004 and enjoy a highly successful relationship, we are delighted they are supporting us in this way as they have supported us in many other ways too over the years. “
Andrew Wilson, Managing Director at Wilson Vale commented: “Supporting the children in this way is both highly satisfying and also highly appropriate as they get the opportunity to experience the joy of seeing their very own vegetables and fruit grow, and of course eating them too!.”
Wilson Vale are renowned for high quality, innovative and healthy dishes developed by a team of highly skilled chefs and sourced from environmentally friendly suppliers. This garden is just one of a number of new initiatives recently launched as part of its new Corporate Social Responsibility policy and proves they are committed to investing in the future of its partners, clients and suppliers.
Wilson Vale, is a privately owned business based in Ashby de la Zouch, formed in 2002 which now employs over 420 staff in their operations embedded in clients businesses across the UK.
